Hi

everytime i look at my ants (MYRMICA RUBRA) i see a yellow ant hes same look as others but hes more yellow and slightly larger then others and i always see him carrying other ants not sure if he killing or just moving them but all he ever seems to do what could this yellow one be

he's a new worker they start off yellow then orange then red

should a new worker be carrying around full workers all time ? all she ever does

they can do depend on the colony none of mine ever carry around other workers

oh well i guess they do whatever they want just wanted to make sure now all i have the task of doing is finding where to buy glass from so i can built a nest

It is common for ants to move other workers by carrying them. Much species do this when they move to a new place (nest) but Mymrica rubra does it sometimes without a reason. ;)

mine do the same jartok and there's actually a couple of them that do that it's rather fascinating.
