My ants are close the nest entrance, but they are closing it inside, are basically locked up inside of the nest

What kind of ants do you have?

Normally it shouldn`t be a bad sign if they close their nest.

Messor barbarus.

Normally Ants make their entrance smaller,
to protect semselves from animals and other ants.

As long as there ist place for workers to get through, or they can open it, you should not fear.
