Tank temp is around 35c is this an ok temp for messors or is it too hot? I'm finding it hard to keep it cool, tank is heated with a 50w infra red light.

Ye its a bit too hot should be around 26 -30 with a cool area why you struggling your in the uk its not that hot here? maybe try moving the infrared lamp back a bit or opening windows in the room to counter it

i keep mine at 22-25 im struggling to get it higher

Yer I have have the lamp back a bit and it has cooled and is steady around 30c now. Surface sand is dryer than a nuns bits and the lower sand is damp so guess that's the right combo now. I take it they don't like humidity?

Nope keep it dry just offer some moisture

The nest dont need high humidity just a little and it is not really neccesary to heat up the out world. If you place a heat mat on the nest area only that works out fine to. :)

My formicarium usually reaches around 25.6 C on the surface, but I have a spot under the surface at the nest wher eit surely gets hotter than that, can't tell just how hot though. But they're not complaining and allways put teh brood up against the glass while the heat is on.

Sometimes during sunny morning my surface reaches up around 30 degrees, but doens't last very long and it might be less since the light hits the reciever on the thermometer, so it's prolly incorrect.
