jartok: Messor out of hibernation (8. Jan 2009 15:27)

As we all know its coming the time to take our Messors out of hibernation and this is my first time i coming out of it should i gradually increase temp end of jan to 28c or should i just do it instantly ?

Depends when you put them in hibernation. Mine did go in end of November and i'm going to get them out half February.
Increase the temperature slowly. If you do it to fast the ants can die.

I'm just abit curious; how can raising the temperature too quick kill the ants? Not criticizing or so, just very curious.

its shock to the system going from 15 to 30c in matter of seconds . and create stress and stress is the last thing you want especially with a Messor queen

Well, that would require like a blowdryer or something. o.o; I'd certainly hope no-one would do that to a colony. x)
