rgawron: A bug that came out of Lasius niger ant queen. (26. Jul 2014 16:23)

I have captured this queen about four weeks ago, she didn't lay eggs like other queens and she don't eat. Yesterday I observed in a drop of honey (that I provided her earlier) this bug. It has 2-3 mm, stays in honey, it doesn't move. The queen still doesn't eat but she's alive, it looks that she isn't damaged.

The ant queen was captured in south-west Germany.

Is this a mite? What is this creature?

I've moved this being to a separate test-tube and I will monitor if it will evolve in the future.
