Hello

I'm building a new formicarium for a Lasius n iger colony and I was thinking about getting some real plants there. What kind of plants would you recomend? I was thinking about planting a sucullent plant as they don't require constant care and are somewhat strong.

I also want to design a more naturalistic viv using live plants so i tried a small potted aloe. Within the day the ants had all the soil out of the pot, so how the hell do you plant them ?

You can plant the the plant under the outworld, the roots are under the basin but the leaves are in the basin so you can moisture the plant under the basin.

nice thread here and an interesting topic for sure.
At the moment there is just some life moss in my outworld but I plan to introduce other life plants as well.
I was thinking of fern and other related plants. To allow them space for root growth the idea is to include a box in the outworld with soil and litter, and to separate the deeper regions by applying mesh wire. My hope is the roots will be able to grow trough while the ants will be unable to dig too deep.
