but you don't know if they accept eachother because of the smell of the ants. Maybe the workers think hey a hostile queen let's kill!!!

thomie: (25. Mär 2008 22:07)

Yeah, but when the workers are alone for about 2 weeks they'll accept a queen much faster!
Even L.Niger (aggressive ants) accepts sometimes a different Queen!

anyone got experience with this??

mzfckr: (26. Mär 2008 10:09)

after a time workers forgot the another queen and can adopt a new one.but it dont happen very often.

Its always a risk to do this, but if the colony is queen less you could try it. Cool them down first, the change of them accepting the new queen would be bigger. (like in hibernation)

mvannunen: (26. Mär 2008 12:43)

wouldn't it better 2 present brood 2 the queen??
Allot saver she eat or accept them..??

Hey guys,

long time not heard of me!!! :D
But a little update my first queen without breed and workters didn't made it.
Last week I orderd a new F. Fusca, one queen with 11-25 workers.

Today I have introduced them in my y-tong/basin setup.
I gave them some water/sugar and protein and they eat it.
Also I noticed they began carrie-ing other ants around, so i followd where they were carrie-ing to.
It was under my Y-tong instead of in my Y-tong. So I cloese the entrences they used.

Scavengers are walking around in the Y-tong so hopefully they decide thats also a good place.

I keep you posted.

Greetz Mike

Hey guys,

Yesterday i introduced the ants in the basin and they are now moved inside the Y-tong.
I didn't expected they would move so quickly but the whole colony is already in.

Also I noticed they moved some dead ants along to is this normal??

I have put some water in the Y-tong, at first they were sitting in the top but the second time i put water in the Y-tong.
After the second time the Y-tong got to wet so they moved a hole to the bottom.

So I have to try out how much water i need to use.

But my farm is doing well.

See ya next time!!
