hopefully they will be as calm as the rest of my ant colony's

As long as you don't upset them to much it would work out just fine.
And it only happens in larger colonies, so i don't think you need to worry about that already.

i read is and was thinking they were going to spray like made when ever something moved like Formica rufa. im not bothered if they spray me i just don't want them to get injured

from antstore checklist:

Formica sanguinea -> massive sprayer :D

they have arrived and the Formica sanguinea have fusca workers and unlike the last store i bought an ant colony from there alive and well and not half dead with broken antennae :)

JimmyVe: (23. Jul 2008 21:34)

Good for you. ;) I wish you good luck with this colony.

gabranth: (23. Jul 2008 21:46)

thxs there's now 2 sanguinea workers that have hatched and i think i might get a cinerea colony as another source of slaves for them (edit i mean cunicularia)

Calco: (26. Jul 2008 20:45)

can you put, say for example, niger eggs into a formica-sanguinea nest and they will take them in and slave them?

gabranth: (26. Jul 2008 21:04)

nope they will eat them as they only enslave the Formica (Serviformica) species
