Looks great Steve, i keep these ants myself also, they are lovely.

nice queen Steve :) ... larvae looks good and her gaster is optimal. I keep these queens in simple or double chamber in ytong. There larvae easier grow into cocoon ;)

Not a bad idea Skippy, ive got a spare ytong in my shed.. might have to break some off and make a small nest :D Just wondering but am i right in saying they like the nest dry.. as she is nowhere near the cottom wool water end.. she stays in the dry middle???

Skippy: (12. Jun 2008 15:16)

you know , I´ll show you how I have it ... in dry nest chamber , but she need to drink every 2-3 day to full ;)

They like it dry but not completely, try to keep it a little bit moist.

SteveUK28: (12. Jun 2008 16:48)

Skippy how do you transfer them after they have workers ?

Skippy: (12. Jun 2008 17:28)

there in corner of chambers are small holes ... you can see it on last picture , holes are covered until colony has first workers ... then I´ll uncover holes , and they can move into tube , or bigger ytong nest

jimmy: yes they like a bit moist ... I have not them only in dry ;) ... you must make wet that ytong sometimes

JimmyVe: (17. Jun 2008 15:36)

Yep, your going to receive your first worker soon. ;)
