heya

on thursday i got a A Lovely Camponotus blandus queen from Jimmy

shes about 14mm long, rather fat bum. and shes chocolate brown and has a golden sheen on her head and a green/gold sheen on her abdomen, lovely looking ant ! :D

since then shes laid 4 eggs, but when i got back from the weekend ,she had eaten 2 so, left with 2, but i gave her a dead lasius niger worker and she ate it in 10 minutes, left only the legs, and now shes got 6 eggs !!

Been reading about various reasons why queens lay eggs, seems its very common, and happens thru out the life of the colony, when the queen lays unfertilized eggs, if there are workers, they will feed them to the queen, except when its time for the colony to produce Males, then they become Males :)

Only 4 eggs, i thought she had more when i send her to you ? Could be she eaten a few, yes you may feed her some fruit fly's ore something. I hope she will make a nice strong colony for you. ;)

shes now laid 8 eggs now, so the pile is getting bigger nearly every day !!im uploading some pics this weekend for you guys :) :D

good news, the Blandus queen has like 10-12 eggs in a pile, guards them with her life

i will get some pics tomorrow, if i remember to get the camera from Art at College
