Is the brood development of all camponotus slow? Because i have a Camponotus cf. crassus and i want to know it :)

miszt: (14. Okt 2007 23:25)

not all, dunno bout that species tho

Purifier: (14. Okt 2007 23:48)

Uhm....could not understand that post. But i think you want to tell me that you dont know if they grow slow :)

miszt: (15. Okt 2007 00:32)

no, not all are slow developers, but i dont know whether crassus is slow or fast

All Camponotus are not slow developers. A good freind of mine has Camonotus fellah from Israel and he was amazed by the speed of their colony growth. In late spring he started with a new queen and now he has more than 100 workers. I think "exotic" Camponotus grow quite fast while European Camponotus are rather slow. Not sure which one is yours.

Oh okay, thanks. My Camponotus are exotic. They are from south Amerika.
Then i hope my new workers would born soon, my queen lay many eggs :)

I have a few Camponotus species form south America myself, 2 of them grows very fast the other one is rather slow. But not so slow as European Camponotus .

@kashmir79: They are similar the keep. ;)

I had much species from Europe and exotic ,and I can tell ,exotic species colonies growing faster ;) ,some species not much ,but faster.

My ant collection is all about Camponotuses ,so this is species with which I have much experience ,more as with other species.

@mpir: I also have Campo fellah ,dont forget ;)
