35016: Camponotus cruentatus eggs and larvae not developing (18. Mai 2018 20:51)

Hi all

I have had my colony for a few months now. There are about 5 ants (i think only one is not a ninetic), and a bunch of eggs and larvae. However, the eggs and larvae don't seem to be developing. Is this possible? Or does it just take exceptionally long with this species?

Some Camponotus sp. need around 2 months from egg to worker.
Just in case you're not familiar with, try to feed some more proteins.

Okay thanks, I will wait a bit longer.

I feed them a fairly constant supply of Dubia roaches and wingless fruit flies, so I don't think protein is the problem.

BTW, how often should I water a Ytong nest?
