Northbuster: My Camponotus ligniperdus (13. Mai 2014 15:24)

Hey all!

This is my 3rd colony! it came in the post together with my Messor b arbar u s Queen. First thing i noticed about the Camponotus l igniperdus Queen is that she is HUGE!!! Here is a picture of the 2 Queens next to a 1 euro coin, just to see how big she really is!

I am hoping a lot that i will get this Queen to lay eggs and to build on a colony. When i started out looking on the internet about keeping ants at home, i know i wanted a colony of this! Tho i made the smarter move to start with a Lasius Niger colony, just to see if i would even like to have ants! (Well i guess i do like to keep ants) I am very happy that i have them in my home now and i look forward on the process on this colony. I know they grow slow and these ants take more patients then any other kind, but i am up and ready for it! I hope the picture is clean enough on here to see her as she is in a small fish tank that i bought. Wish me luck and hope you will enjoy my blogs!
