Hello everyone,
a month ago I captured a Camponotus l igniperdus queen at a garden party. I hope I indentified the species right. It's quite a common species in Czech Republic. After four days she laid 4 eggs and now she has about 15 of them. I haven't seen her for two weeks because I'm abroad but hopefully my roommate is taking care of her.
Here are some photos from 17th June 2012 (sorry for the quality):

So let me know what you think. :)
Hi mate, she looks like my queen, i would only say her gastrix (i think thats the right term for it) is slightly larger than mine. Hope she keeps well buddy!
I've just came from my vacation to find the score was 1 pupae : 2-3 larvae. The other approx. 5 eggs have disappeared. Is this normal?
frackyboom>>> thx for your reply :)
Also I took some photos:

Finally the first worker of the colony has been born! There are approx. 5 more larvae in the test tube.
Here's a photo of the queen with the newborn worker and the empty cocoon:

Hi,
after a long time I checked the test tube and found some new eggs and larvae so i thought I'd post some pictures. After 5 months it looks like we're going to have a new addition to the colony.

Question: I didn't put them to hibernation this winter (it's their first winter). Is it OK?
Cheers.
Nice queen,i heard it maybe not good to pass the hibernation, cause they need the rythm.
