Filobass: Hibernation Camponotus ligniperdus (8. Nov 2011 14:59)

Hi!
In 2010 summer i caught a queen of this beautiful species and now the colony is composed only by 4 workers!
I keep them in a "woodnest":

The colony started the hibernation in the end of August. When can I bail them out of the fridge?
Can I have some info about this ant?

Thanks in advance  !

What information are you looking for? I recommend you read other threads, almost every question relating to this species has already been asked and answered somewhere on her. Good luck.

I think Both Camponotus herculeanus and Camponotus ligniperdus will hibernate regardless of temperature, so it's best to go by the ants, rather than forcing them into it.

As a note I found that wooden nests like this one are very prone to mould and such. :(
