nerdgeek: Camponotus cruentatus or micans (25. Mär 2010 20:46)

Hi,

I have my basin along with a plaster formicarium ready but I cant find anywhere to buy cruentatus which was my first choice of ant, anyone know of anywhere else apart from Antstore?

Has anyone had any experience with micans at all. I have read that Camponotus cruentatus should be kept at about 30C but can go up to 40C like their natural habitat, does micans fall under this too?

Are micans a nice ant to keep, am I looking at the same size queen along with Majors and Minors ?

Thanks

yes this is true, just provide water in the form of a test tube in the basin, ad a heat pad under two or three of the chambers and thay will use then as they see fit...you can spray the basin from time to time but its not neccasary, they are a very slow growing spec keep that in mind too especailly when you only have a queen, if you get a few workers its still a long process to gain in numbers, as for the other spec you mention i have no wxperince with them.... good luck
