Kale^^: Camponotus cruentatus (2. Okt 2009 17:28)

I just got Camponotus c ruentatus a while ago and now that they're settled, i wanted to make a topic for them.
I traded with a private keeper to get them(, if you want Camponotus cruentatus or aethiops, or Messor b arbarus, contact thefinger_13 [at) hotmail dot com).
They arrived in a test tube nest (queen with 7 workers and some brood) and i opened their tube to this arena: with double arena (20x20, normally 20x10).

Picture: http://www.muurahaiset.net/gallery/files/1/1/9/dscf1909.jpg in test tube

Now they have moved in the cork part (dry) from the test-tube, but i cannot give a picture because i have lent my camera for this weekend.
I cant wait 'til the colony gets bigger, because they seem to be very active at all times, even with small numbers 30-40% workers outside constantly :)
with other species mostly 10-20 percent of the workers are out foraging.

Q: should i keep the cork wet ? Since it is dry at the moment and i am just wondering because the ants moved there from a test-tube that was still moist.. Do they like dry? I have a water source for them on the arena

Queen? Shouldn't she have workers by now?

E:11 oct
The eggs have hatched into a nice pile of larvae, and the queen has laid a bunch of new eggs.

They like it rather dry, if i'm not mistaken, i would try it out. You can moist a part of the farm and see if they move to there.
