hi all,
i have be wanting to get some of these for ages. and because of what I saw in france made me even more desperate to get some.
in france i found a colony of these ants going completely mental and realised their colony had been attacked by a group of P heidole pallidula they i asummed had taken the queen from under the rock and killed it outside!!!! :(
i did have a pic but can not upload it now i will keep trying.
got back to england and was very inspired by darradar to start a colony.
my mum said i was allowed to get the colony 4-1O workes on antstore.
i just need a few tips :)
thanks guys
Lewis
well i have been reading up about them for ages and have ordered a small colony[4-1O] when they arrive i will put thm in to a small outworld and let them settle in and have them covered give them a blob of honey and a small bug and probobley have the heat lamp i also have over a part of the basin so they can choose where to go :D when the colony gets bigger i'am planing to get a beton nest and move them in to a bigger outworld with it.
tell me what you think.
thanks :)
Seems fine Lewis. Make sure you don't over heat them. Connect (or put) the tube into an outworld and place half the tube on a heating mat (or underneath a lamp in you case :) ) Check on the temperature once in a while to see if it not gets to high. (about 25°C seems fine by me)
Good luck.
thanks Jimmy my Camponotus ligniperda test tube has just been opend into their new outworld this is attached to a y-tong they are near the lamp as well and it is about 26C in the feeding part and cooler in the y-tong.
LEWIS
they arrived :D yay!!
they are so cool a few of the workers have been out eating honey and have explored a y-tong within the tank :D
6 workers and a few larvea and cocoon shells can't wait until they move in to the y-tong
they are in the y-tong :D

Well done Lewis.. I hope they grow into a nice colony for you... Perhaps you could turn this thread into a diary, and maybe put up some pics :)
thanks steve :)

sorry about the dely but i have worked out how to do it and now my edit button was not there
if someone could i will put up some pics up
done it yay!!
unfortuantly my ants went in to the y-tong and then started dieing i could not work it out until i read that bird sand has addetives in and can kill the ants and the person who sold it to me said it would be good for ants obviously not. at first i thought it was that they did not like the y-tong but the were init! so now they are in a test-tube with only 3 workers larvea and the queen
another 1 died   can someone help please :(
in new test tube as other one had no water :|
they moved themselves :)
That is a massive queen!
Beautifull ants! =D>
To bad some of them died. Hope they will recover soon.
