Uncletommy: food? (13. Feb 2009 11:07)

Can i feed my Camponotus ligniperda freeze dried blood worms, the ones i feed my fish?

They should like them, I fished loads of these out of my pond once and left them on a stone, after a few mins there were loads of Lasius niger running around a taking them away.
Put them in and see if they take them

I did some testing with that a couple of months ago, they take it to the nest but it just stays there for no reason.
Just like Aphaenogaster sometimes takes seeds in the nest while they don't eat them.

If they like, sure, they can eat it.

i have a tip here, my Camponotus Cruentatus have a veraciouse appetite, so to keep a steady supply of live food, i buy wax worms, and allow them to pupate into moths, my ants love these moths, they are a nice fat and plump moth, also the moths can be frozen, so i always have a supply, but for the most part i feed them live, occasionally i also cut the top off when in chrisalis form and they like this too....compltley emptying it and leaving just the shell......
