Thanks for the update ashahd, mine ligniperda are in there nest now. As for the small outworld i always do it.. as soon as a queen gets a worker i put the test tube into a small tub.. a lot earier to feed them. And old take away box works a treat, or even an empty icecream tub. :D

ok everyone im back!
(i know u missed me :D)

Anyway well i done quite some bit with these ants even though i have exams coming up but back to the ants.

I moved my campos into their new outworld which is a plastic aquarium/ temporary pet holder but perfect for ants! Ecxept the lids they give all its slits are so big any ant could escape (proly not big species queens). So i taped them close and poked small air holes in them.

Oh and a new worker has hatched and is by far the smallest even compared to her sister who was born before so its a typical minor.

Anyway its around 17 eggs, 5-10 larvae all stages, 2-3 cocoons (cant make my mind up if there is another since queen is over it all the time), 4 workers and of course the queen :queen:

here are some last good close up pics when they were in the test tube on my desk (used magnifying glass) and the new setup with the ants in it!

I use the same kind of tank but with my ytongs :D i use ptfe an they dont even get to the lid then ;)

I have changed alot of things in there new tank,
First i added my old cork ytong which they moved into overnight (>.< i missed it when they moved aww!!! i was on the ps3 then...)
I have 7 workers now and 1 cocoon which will soon hatch, in total i have
7 workers, 1 queen, probably some eggs, 15+ larvae all stages, and 1-2 cocoons.
Ive actually been worried a little as the queen hasnt been laying many eggs and sleeps all day lol
But she did lay some eggs yesterday or so if im correct

Is it normal for campo. L. Queens if they dont lay eggs over a week or so and then start laying again? mine didnt lay any eggs over 1 and a half weeks and then just laid a couple eggs yesterday or so...

Im not quite sure if im doing everything right, i mean i feed them insects, honey, fruits etc... and cork nest is wet enough but i read somewere that these ants like it dry
So any advise will be appreciated =D

When the colony is small they don't lay eggs all the time, they only lay a few eggs so the workers can take care of all of them. If they would lay to many eggs they will die. So they leave some space in between it. When the colony gets bigger they will lay more eggs.

They like it dry but not to dry. It still needs to be a bit moist.

I see your colony does very well.
Do you have any tips? Do's and don't?
Cause this is a hard species :P
