2 queens in one colony sounds very cool, tho i'm not gonna use it (i don't want to have a colony too big too soon)
Do herculaneus tend to eat insects where they find them and then pass the food onto the colony or will they drag food back to the nest?
I ask because a worker of mine has spent the last day dragging a cricket around in the feeding dish as if trying to take it away, but she's not able to get it over the steep sides, the cricket doesn't seem to have been eaten at all, no bits lying around. Whereas my other ligniperda colony simply disected the cricket and ate it where they found it. They took a leg back for the queen.
both, cut insects up for them at first if u only have a small colony, they are not so strong
yeah seems to be randomly both with mine sometimes they will unsuccessfully try and drag a whole spider down the entrance, sometimes they disect and bring back the good bits or sometimes eat it there and then
well me 2 ligniperda queens are gettin on fine
just hope they dont have a sudden change of heart
ok, sudden change of heart,
battle royal after a week of cleaning and feeding each other
theve been seperated.
any 1 want a poor lonely ligni queen?
where they attacking each other? do you have workers?
Camponotus herc will only tolerate one another so long, eventually they will seperate into diffrent parts of the nest, as long as you give them space, they may cooperate together (eg two test tubes connected together)
If your really worried, i'd be happy to take her off your hands, pm me :)
I was gonna try 2 ligniperda queens with each other but now I see It dont work for ligniperda I wont ;)
1 ligniperda queen £5 inc postage? (its just i bought it for 14.99 only 2 weeks ago so would rather not give her away for free..paypal btw)
pm me :)
i really dont know why they suddenly went mad, well i say 'they' it was more the original queen going mad
there was one worker (with the original queen)
Hello!
I am absolutely new here and just got my first ants - Camponotus herculeanus (?) queens(?)..
Now working at enclosures.. Is it OK?:
20X20X12 cm boxes, 8 cm soil/sand mix, 18X6 cm flat wood pieces from the
place where the queens were found with small holes under.. Moisture is high, sould I keep it so??
..Little water with cotton tampons.
What they need as food??
Have I missed something?
thanx
