I'm thinking about gettin a Gypsum nest for my new Pheidologeton colony, I know that Gypsum is a crystaline matirial, can you tell me whether it is soft enough to be chewed thru? I dont want it to be chewed thru, as it will be a while before I can put the colony into a large sealed tank...
Gypsum is a little bit softer than y-tong, so it is possible for them to chew through.
Cheers Jimmy :) I've decieded I'm going to build a ytong nest inside a farm for now, at least I can be sure its sealed at least lol
hi
I bought a gypsum nest out of curiosity from antstore, not too impressed tho.I tried it with lasius nigers for starters and the glass top was not snug enough and allowed small workers to escape so had to seal it.Then found there was nowhere for them to get rid of ther trash without me frequently disturbing them.
I got the same problem. the ants can take their food into the nest but not out. :(
lol well if lasius niger can get out, Pheid would have been a disaster
Well if i may say, they are not really good farms to keep a colony in. You could use them if you put them in a fish tank ore something, than you could use the tank as out world and the gypsum nest as farm.
Let us know who you are,
here .
Thanks !
