4mykids: New Farmicarium (1. Aug 2007 16:14)

This was made a few days ago with the attemp to mirror YTONG. It is made from a 50/50% ratio of Plaster and Perlite.

This is a few months old Carpenter Colony -

I am using a magnify glass for close up so sorry for the quality but if you look close you can see them sharing a cricket leg. On the top left I have Honey water in a plastic test tube that I cut to fix nice. They just settled in yesterday so the Queen with fatten up a bit - I know she looks a little deflated so this has helped a bit.

Sorry guy's,

The size is 18 inches by 18 inches.

It soaks up water really fast and holds it well. This colny had outgrown the test tube but I thought they would take days before they moved. This morning I checked and they had moved in over night so i grabbed a camera before leaving for work :)

Looks nice 4mykids, how do you keep it moist ? (have you a picture of that ?)

Greetings.

Hello JimmyV,

I keep it in a plastic container that can hold water. I just pore the water into the container and the Farm soaks it up.
