AntsNational: Test Tube Chamber (9. Jul 2014 17:36)

I've created a tiny ant nest for small colonies and founding queens. Great for Myrmica species, small Pheidole, many species of fully claustral & semi-claustral founding queens and doesn't expand to break the glass! Easily removable once taking the single chamber out. What do you think? :-)

Looks great, the last picture shows larvae or are that still eggs?

Hi Leon, thanks! The chamber is made using plaster and a few other bio-friendly ingredients to inhibit molding.

Hi Jeff,

The last photo is a different chamber nest which holds a small, young colony of Aphaenogaster fulva (a local species). There's eggs, larvae and pupae in the last photo.

Cheers!

I've also now created a double-chamber nest!
