I would like to paint the corridors and chambers of my YTong farm white so I can see my colony better.
What kind of paint can I use that won't harm the ants and where do I purchase it?
I have looked on Antstore and can't find any paint.

Hmm... I dye natural clay.
I put on the pap and ytong colours on the colour of given clay.
I wait as much as the concrete then he will dry and is approx. :)
I'm not sure paint is a good idea, it could be bad for the ants.
I once "painted" my ytong with loam (made it wet like a thik paint). Maybe you can do the same with white sand or some stuff like that.
This sie exactly checks at me because this is only the ground mixed with water.
Yes loam sounds like a good idea.
To let you understand I haven't got anything setup as yet, just doing the reaserch to find out what i need and knowledge etc.
Hoping to start soon though will wait till March time after hibernation to send for queen.

Hi agian Al,
If you want a queen.. give me a shout before ordering as i may be getting rid of some of my ants. I def have a few Lasius niger colonies that will be going.
Where did you get those bud ? lol (sorry way off topic, couldn't resist. :) )
it was from this really cool very kind belgium bloke i know ;)
I've painted one of my ytong nests with watered clay, works really wall and can't harm the ants. Allow me to find a picture...
Picture goodness!
So yeah, the brown is basically really wet clay that I've 'painted' out over the ytong. Really murky water works too.
Bee keepers use any water based paint as standard
