TimLarge: Advise what parts will fit together (20. Jul 2009 19:27)

Hello,

February this year I bought a starting set with Lasius niger colony from Antstore. They are doing very good after a slow start, and the colony has grown from 8 ants to at least 75 now (hard to count them accurately :)). The water supply in the test tube is running low, and it isnt that clean anymore. In order to anticipate for them to move to a new test tube, I need some supplies.

Basicly I want to attach a fresh test tube to the other side of the basin. I got the starter set ( link here ) meaning it got holes in it 10 mm diameter. I want to make a more sturdy connection then I have now, so wanted to connect the tubes with a connecter.

My question is: if I buy the following list of items, will they all fit together?
- 2 x Alpha Ants rubber basin connector 10mm ( link )
- 1 x Test-glass-tube 100x12 mm / 10 pcs. ( link )
- 1 x flexible tube 14/10 mm - cristal glassy - hard ( link )

So if anyone (from the shop) can confirm this will fit together? Its kind of hard to know for sure from the descriptions.

A look into the future tells me I want to move to two test tubes as a nest for my babies. I would therefor allready want to buy the materials needed for that. I was planning on the following, and for this I would like to ask the same question: does it all fit together (and with the list above)?
- 1 x LP tube fitting Y 10 ( link )
Also I would need a connector between the flex tube 14/10 mm and the test tube, but can;t find anything for that on the webshop. What connector can I use?

I think they all will fit together but i'm not a 100% sure because i don't use much of these stuff. :) Also if it doensn't fit well i always use some silicone to close everything. ;) Works well.

im the same as jimmy here i dont use it either this equipment. If things are too big for me tho i use cotton wool to seal it up :)

Good luck and please post some pics of your setup and ants :)
