ratgreen: Ants of Tobago (1. Jun 2008 18:44)

some really cool ants in tobago, such as Camponotus Substitusus(alates) and Hurcluleanus~spelling,Polyrhachis dives,Pachycondyla apicalis(i think miszt will like), some sort of Myrmecia(alates) and lots of others that i couldnt get photos of.

Myrmecia live only in Australia. It must be something else.

TiGGa: (1. Jun 2008 19:06)

It's Odontomachus sp. Notice the jaw and the head.

yer tigga i think you are right, after looking at some pitures of other Odontomachus i does match.

Skippy: (1. Jun 2008 20:13)

hmm I think it is not Odontomachus , only some similar genus ... maybe Mystrium ;) or something else , there is a lot of species with this jaws type :) .... of course , nice ants , did you caught something ? :D

miszt: (1. Jun 2008 20:40)

Nice looking ants :)

its not Pachycondyla apicalis however, they have orange tipped antena and diffrent jaw shape, but it does look like it culd be some kind of Pachycondyla

Thats not a Polyrhachis dives, it has red legs, and the head is shaped diffrently, I think possibly some kind of Camponotus, very beautiful ant whatever it is!

:)
