Radiss ( http://mrowkoyad.pl/ ) , Vaclav ( http://www.polyergus.wz.cz ) , me Skippy , and maybe Messorus and Mpir :) .... 10-15km long way around mountains in nice Slovak nature , all about ant-hunting and finding young queens and small colonies :)
Photos of trip coming here soon (at Sunday and Monday) ;)

Looks like you have some nice species about Skippy :) i'm gona have to a take a trip over to Europe I think to do some ant hunting! I'm getting tired of seeing L niger and flavus (if i'm lucky) here in the UK lol
hehe , Bratislava can be one of your checkpoint :):D
Great pictures dude. ;) And very nice ants to.
I know what you mean miszt, where i live you also find only the same species every day... :(
you guys are lucky you have such a range of ants, like miszt said all we ever see is lasius niger of flavus, i have never even seen a wood ant nest, even though i went for a 7 mile walk though the perfect habitat and saw nothing. also great pics what camera/lens are you using?
I do not know if is it luck or what, here you can also find nothing :( ... but you need good know your region and know where which species are. If you come here as newbie , I believe you wouldnt find for ex. Messor muticus or that Prenolepis , probably also Aphaenogaster. Here are everywhere like you guys wrote , Lasius flavus and niger , Tetramorium caespitum and somewhere some Formica (rufibarbis , cunicularia) ... other species only on special places ;):D
-I dont know which camera is it , these photos are by my friend :) ... but I can ask him ;)
... answer is here ... Canon D30 ;)
