A few pictures of my new colony, they just arrived.
Queen with workers.
New picture, colony in hibernation.
My messor barbarus
My messor muticus
Looks very good. Try not to disturb them to much. they get stressed up easily.
Only when I making photos
what is the solution in your tubes? Water or a honey solution?
Hi 4mykids and welcome to the forum.
No it is just water. It is meant to keep the 'nest' (temporally) moist.
I feed them outside the tube, honey solution (or sugar) and some bugs and of course seeds. ;)
I just manager to get real luck with finding 5 Carpenter Queens,
I will use the same technique as you. I have the test tubes already.
The best - thank you.
Messor muticus fotos - very good number of larvae to start the new colony
