owkey :p .
I hope my Messor barbarus queen will make brood soon. How long/much workers did it took before you've had a majors?

Owkey i did :) . After ±5months 100+ workers :O that's fast!!!
When i watched the pictures of the queen she doesnt have hair on hear back ??

mpir: (24. Feb 2008 07:39)

Hair on her back? Not really. I mean there are some very small hair on her body if you look at it through magnifying glass, but nothing really significant or eye-striking.

As you can see the queen got hair on het back. On this picture you can't see the hair good buy i've got pictures where you can count them

Great job Mpir and nice picture to. Yes most of the time the workers pull the queen to move her. That is a normal behavior. (but i think you already knew that ;))

Almost all ants have hair, but you can not see it with the naked eye.

thomie: (24. Feb 2008 18:57)

I can see the hairs on her back with the naked eye. But she's ded so i've got much more time to watch her and I don't have to look truth glass :p

Just wondered how is every1's messors coming along.. Mine is coming along nice now.. got around 6 workers from Just a queen with no brood or eggs at all.

Also i was wonderin can a colony get used to movement light vibrations n so on.. just askin as im trying to get mine to move into a new setup they are uncovered.. unheated.. and still have no intentions of moving.. even tho the new test tube is nice n dark an heated.. Any ideas????

JimmyVe: (1. Mai 2008 18:50)

Mine are doing fine to (thanks), the colony is getting pretty big. ;) (i have some new pics, will post them soon)

Well if you heated up the new nest (tube) and uncovered the old one they should move soon. They don't like cold and lighted places.
