Here is it ,new and very simple ytong formicarium with Camponotus blandus (and 2 box for new queens ,which will come to me soon). Nest is without arena now´. There is tank for water inside and it dont need heating ,because I heating all room ( 25-26´C). No problemos ;)
Very nice Skippy, my Camponotus blandus is going to have a big baby boom soon, lot of cocoons (20 i think) i shall post pictures soon, but they are still in there tube.
Big baby boom =
I think it is time to move them into ytong Jimmy ;) ,becouse inside of tube is small place ,and that queen can feel - she can to slower production of eggs ...
look good Skippy and hopefully you will also have a bit of a larger colony Jimmy

...yes ,Jimmy has bigger colony ,because when I received my young queen with eggs ,Jimmy had at this time small colony of them ... I remember cca 1+5 or what ;)
how hard is this species of ant to keep as im looking for a more exotic species to keep compared to what i have crrently
Sithmaster676
This blandus is not hard to keep ,he need only food (insects) and honeywater ... temperature about 24-27´C and humidity in normal ;) ... it is very good and nice specie
so maybe a heat lamp is needed and placed on a certain part of the nest ?

in deed Skippy, this colony is a bit bigger than yours. I'm going to move them soon (if i find the time) ;)
They are not so hard to keep (like Skippy said) but they need constant heating and they do not keep hibernation so they need care the hole year long. ;)
i really would like a colony that doesn't hibernate as it keeps me interested throughout the year, so if i were to buy this species how would i arrange heating e.g heat mat or heat lamp because I'm quite interested in this species.
also how big does these species get and would an aerated concrete block be suitable home.
Also where can you buy this species as antstore don't sell them.
