umm cant they just escape ? It seems they only like need to fall off or something ?
And how do you have fastened the rope? With a thread? There your ants could quite simply break out or not?
Hi Adam, this is a very nice setup, i like it. ;) Shiela got a point there. How do you do this ?
@Skippy: nice one, i think they will do just fine in there.
DANGER FALLING ANTS! lol? how do you keep them from escaping? that rope looks very easy to escape from
I dont think can ants fall or jump [ well this species] . Only if they were kocked off would they escape.
@Skippy
Very nice car collection indeed. :) :P
@ adam james
I have the same question as everybody else here: It does not happen that some ant might fall of the rope? Or climb the small rope on to the ceiling? And you do know that ants can fall into the water and swim out on the other side?
Nevertheless I like the "open" approach and the direct contact with ants. :wink:
Hi , lol no the ants do not attempt to escape the rope is pulled tight so it doesent droop , It is held up bye two lenths of wire and there is a smear of grease on each one to stop the ants climbing onto the ceiling . Ive only ever had 7 workers fall of and that was when i knocked the rope by accident and they fell .
OOooo thanks all ,I have 20 cars in collection ;) :) ,
Yes ... I am not sure if is that rope for ants good (looks great) ,I would have fear about falling ants ... dont know ... but if is it OK like you wrote ,so good luck ;)
Hi all,
Great pictures. :D
Were do you get the equipment for this species? If the temperature is to high the queen will become sterile, but if the temperature is to low the fungus will die. Also how do you keep the humidity at a constant measure?
Anyway the colonies look grate and full proof. =D>
Thats a fantastic set up, I would love some leafcutter ants. What kind of grease do you use to keep them from escaping?
