thomie: Ant found in my garden, specie?? (12. Mai 2008 13:44)

Hello,

I was working in the garden when i found a ant. It have a red head and a black Gaster. As you can see on the video she's about 5mm long.
It's possible that it's a specie witch doesn't live in The North of Netherlands (where i found her) becouse the previous owner had much plants out of other countries.
Does any one know witch specie it could be??

Gr,

Thomie

Hard to tell from the vid, but looks like some kind of Crematogaster species

Could be Crematogaster scutellaris . They live in the south of France (normally).

Thx :D .
I've watched a few pictures of Crematogaster scutellaris and i think it's that specie.

I think also it is Crematogaster , you can see it by gaster :P ... and I think it is not so dangerous :) , and it is nice specie which have quickly growing colonies :)
