hey
today i was sat bored and the in the corner of my eye i saw an ant, so i was like ooo then i went to have a closer look, then to my amazement it was A Queen and so i shot upstairs and grabbed my tweezers and a testube and put her in. i think she may Be Rubra Species, shes a dark red and is about ------ that big.
so im hoping Shel lay eggs. :D

Well from the description and the size the size off a rubra worker is like that big to lol so it could be a worker :)

Difficult to say without a picture. ;) Not only Myrmica sp. are red. If it is possible place a picture that way we can help you.

I think it could be actually a manica rubida queen 13 mm I saw one a few days ago but lost it :S

JimmyVe: (2. Sep 2007 20:52)

Did she look like this ?

This is a picture of a Manica rubida worker but the queen looks almost the same.

Use ruler :). Size of "------" depends on screen resolution.

JimmyVe: (3. Sep 2007 14:46)

In deed, difficult to say if you put it like this, maybe you can measure the queen. ;)
