Santa Claus: Ants from Madagascar (13. Nov 2006 12:42)

This weekend I got new queen from Madagascar.
There are photos of ant-hill and workers (made in nature):

you mean Aphaenogaster right? thanks for determination!
could please tell me several words about keeping this kind at home?
I have queen in test tube. It layed 3 eggs, 2 eggs used as food :) But still carrying about 1st egg.

I also think it is a Aphaenogaster species but I'm not sure.
If they are, they normally live in a dry environment and with temperatures from 20-30°c. They also keep an hibernation.
This information i found on the net, i don't keep them myself.

There is the queen of Aphaenogaster.

Yeah, this is a very beautiful queen of Aphaenogaster. The gaster os this species ist typically. It may be cockerelli, but don't trust in that.
