Those are pretty sure Solenopsis geminata. There is a chance it could be another Solenopsis species, but it pretty sure will be S. geminata.

Harnaś: Re: Ants from Singapore (7. Feb 2011 18:21)

There is a chance that this is Pheidole sp.?

It can't be a Solenopsis geminata because my friend catch it in Singapore. Solenopsis geminata comes from America.
On the other hand it can not be a Solenopsis geminata because i feed them honey and insects. Solenopsis geminata eats seeds.

Normaly even Harvester ants dont eat only seeds. They also feed on honey and insects

Sure they can! Solenopsis geminata is world-wide distributed, and could often be found in Asia. I've seen many colonys of S. geminata in Thailand. They definitive do not eat only seeds! They are carnivorous.

I am not a novice ant keeper. I know that. But I give them only honey and insect and now i have more than ten workers and much more progeny. I dont think that it is possible with harvest ants.

I cant open your link Pi.Ag3 .

Pi.Ag3: Re: Ants from Singapore (7. Feb 2011 19:40)

Solenopsis geminata eats seeds. I think you probably mean Pogonomyrmex, which are american harvester ants?

Greetings, Phil

Harnaś: Re: Ants from Singapore (7. Feb 2011 19:50)

Off course Pogonomyrmex comes from America but Solenopsis invicta or geminata too.
You're right Solenopsis geminata is very expansive and it can live in Indonesia and Singapur.
Other propositions?

baumarkthammer: Re: Ants from Singapore (8. Feb 2011 12:56)

It surley isn´t Pheidole. Sure Solenopsis.
As far as I know Solenopsis sometimes also eats seeds rarley.
But it would be possible to raise and feef a colony of harvesting ants only with insects and sugar. I would even be a big problem to raise them only with seeds.
