Hello Melk9!

This looks like a Pheidole spec. Very small Pest Ant, they are small but heavy fighters!

Greetings
Mathias

Looks like a very dark Camponotus substitutus, I was thinking Camponotus maculatus (cause of black head) but thats African, I don't know it they can be found in South-America.

I'd also say Camponotus substitutus, but the queens usually don't have black heads.

Thanks by the informations, guys!Using them I went googling it, and I found images of Camponotus maculatus, very close to the ant I have. Then I'll have it as a Camponotus maculatus!

Yes i would go for Camponotus maculatus to. Very nice ants.

melk9: Identification, Bitte! Camponotus... (19. Feb 2009 18:35)

I collected this one yesterday, as well. To much dark for maculatus? And there's not the spots on the side of the gaster, as in maculatus. Can it be nigriceps?

I don't think it is Camponotus nigriceps, they have darker abdomen and are Australian (could be found in South-America?), but there are so many Camponotus that it could be, maybe Camponotus atriceps?
