Hi all. Just catched those small colonyes under stone.
Someone have idea about specie?

gabranth: Re: Israel pheidole (18. Nov 2008 14:37)

the top pic is Pheidole pallidula

SteveUK28: Re: Israel pheidole (18. Nov 2008 15:49)

I dont think they are pallidula.. i have pallidula and mine are much much darker!

gabranth: Re: Israel pheidole (18. Nov 2008 15:54)

Remember you cannot identify palidula by color ! , it has not that same colour everywhere , pallidula is specific , its color depends on locality - somewhere dark brown , elsewhere light brown , orange-brown up to yellow etc...

anthouse: Re: Israel pheidole (18. Nov 2008 16:40)

Perhaps the colony on top pic have mostly yang workers.
they can get darker at next, but i'm not sure.

i had look in ants israel list, there are also pheidole sinaitica, very bright specie.

and what about second pic?

gabranth: Re: Israel pheidole (18. Nov 2008 17:00)

i don't know about the second one there majors are different

anthouse: Re: Israel pheidole (18. Nov 2008 17:33)

yes, head are longer and darker, abdomen are darker too.
that's all what possible to see on such quility..

Here is someone professional macrophotografier?
i have many unidentified species.

JimmyVe: Re: Israel pheidole (18. Nov 2008 17:44)

I think both are Pheidole species but i can not say which one.

anthouse: Re: Israel pheidole (18. Nov 2008 19:42)

Hmm, what means that you think?
Aren't you sure here is only pheidole spec.?

Skippy: Re: Israel pheidole (18. Nov 2008 20:55)

it is Pheidole , you can try this ... from ant checklist of Israel , but I think it is not pallidula

Pheidole jordanica
Pheidole pallidula
Pheidole sinaitica
Pheidole teneriffana
