Hi there!

Hm, you said you have got no tube, oki, here in Germany you can buy tubes in every Pharmacy for a few cents. If you dont find a tube at all, look for a small box or something like this. (remember, it must be a little humid! a piece cotton wool with water eg.). I suggest dont use tweezers! It may damage the eggs and larves, put the tube in the light and connect it with the queens new home (box, tube, what ever) which you have to put in the dark, if you have the possiblity to keep the old tube cold and the new one warm (as warm as in the ants nature) do that too. I think it wont take very long untill the queen moves.

hmm sounds good, would a icecream container be good? (i have alot of them)

im not sure that i want her tho in a box while she is just starting out, i had planned to connect her when the workers arrive to a icecream container while in the tube?

hmmm is this cricket guts in the moist cotton wool gonna become really bad its been there for awhile, im not a very bright person so i dont know much but how bad is it?

Yes, its better to keep them in a tube until the first workers arrive, so if you get one, it would be great :)

Hm .. how bad is it ^^ mould alone isnt THAT bad, its a problem of course, but not the biggest, the biggest problem that is effected by old food rests are mites.

Like say for example i left the mould and the first workers come along, would they remove it say take it out to the forage area that i have for em (icecream container, gotta love em) is that possible because im sure they would want to keep the nest neat and stuff and lets just say guts on your wall isnt very appealing.

The workers will most likley take the body out of the tube

hmmmm that is good, i like your words of wisdom sced, well i believe this may be the most safest way for me for the time being, so before i go to queensland i shall be hooking up the tube with a forage area with some food put it in a dark safe spot and hope for the best.

thankyou guys for all your help much appreciated, yes i have decided what i am going to do (read 2 posts above this) i may put more stuff down before i leave, feel free to put your ideas on what i should do here but i am going to make a new topic letting you guys know how my queens is going is will be in discussion in general.

I leave on the 9th of jan so i got a little bit before that

thankyou Uta i hadnt thought of that happy new year mate, yes when i get a new camera or something their is a pic of her in page 1 i think but i used my webcam to take a photo so it aint very good
