my componotos is a pain in the ass because my queen's mental she attacks me when i put food in her test tube if im too slow when i do put food in the workers will take the food inside the test tube then the queen will take it back to the other end and if im really unlucky she will try and grab the food miss and attack the worker

jon I would def recommend getting a camponotus spec they are truly lovely ants.

gabrant, thats the normal behaviour. you just havent managed to understand that feeding inside the testtube is seen as a full assault on the nest. just feed in front of the tube, and everything will be fine. stressing out the queen like this is really not good for colony developement.

yep but i need to feed them

but what he is saying, if the tube is not in its own cut off area like a basin then you should put it in one with the test tube open and place food outside the tube so not to disturb them.

until they have more workers they will be staying in the testtube and not going into a basin and judging by the fact my colony has workers and lava and a new batch of eggs there's nothing wrong with it

SteveUK28: (30. Jul 2008 09:54)

as soon as my ants have first workers they go into a small tub.. its miles easier to feed them and gives them a small foragin area.

thats a good idea
