If it was actualy a Fire ant and you dont mistake a Myrmica rubra or Manica rubida for one, you should conserve it in alcohol and send it to a specialist for exact determination and to find out what countermeasures can be taken.
Please do not keep Fire ants.

yes ... Necturus says true ...... fire ants are also dangerous for your region climate - because their colonies grow up very quickly and they keep out original colonies ... and they sting it is true = if you are "hypersensitiveness" ,it couldnt be ok ;)

this species is disaster I looking ... Raid killing insects ,ants also ,and I think this is only one specie in the world what I dont like .... maybe Lasius niger too ,but it is out of theme

because in nature they are under all second stone and on all seconds three ;) ,they are anywhere and when you´ll searching for some rare ant in your region ,you also wouldt like Lasius niger ;)
Im gonna take some pictures with a digital camera see if its any good if not i might buy a good one lol
