I live in a moderate humidity environment. How would I create a dry climate for for example Myrmecia pavida please? (I know Antstore don't currently have them in stock). I can't find a dehumidifier on Antstore's shop. Does anyone know of anywhere that sells a mini dehumidifier please? Would that be enough to maintain the dry climate please?
PS Would it be ok for the ants if I just left them in a moderate humidity or would they just get ill and die because it wasn't dry enough?
Thanks for your help.
If you have a 'closed' basin and you heat that up it will be much dryer. Some ants need in deed a dry climate. It could harm them if the climate is to wet.
Myrmecia do not need so much dry , you can put there just normal sand like you can find in your garden - it will like it :) and make in you nice nest. It is the best to use mix , garden-send/gravel for aquarium.... and use UV lamp heating
Good ventilation and heat source will dry out a tank quickly, you dont need any special de-humidifiers, just dont add much water to the tank
