highered: How to create high humidity? (4. Aug 2008 09:32)

I live in a moderate humidity environment. How would I create a high humidity nest for exotic ants needing high humidity please?

I found the following products that anstore sell:

Sounds good but there is no English description.

Sounds only appropiate for rainforest ants.

But there is no English description for this product.

Sounds good but expensive and not in stock (I'd have to find it elsewhere) and it says the level of humidity can be changed.

However I heard that all you have to do is just spray water on the nest once a day like with a

PS How would these products be connected? Would you just put a tube into the basin and then cover the basin?
Thanks for your help.

a bowl of water and a mesh over(for ants not falling in) it makes humidity too, but you can use everything you want i just think these humidifiers ar too expensive.
also if you want a cheap electronic humidifier, you can buy one ultrasonic mist maker at ebay.

Spagnum moss is great for keeping a tank humid, as long as you keep it damp

remeber to provide ventilation, prefrably Positive airflow, using a small fan or something, otherwise you may end up with moulds and bacteria growing

a small aquarium air pump which is placed on the outside on the cage with a piece of tubing, often called air line placed into the cage is a good way of providing a supply of fresh air.

Points to watch are ;-

A cold draft being created if the air being pumped in is too cold or too fast.
Pollution from smoke, air freshers etc, etc
unlikely, but make sure the ants cant crawl up the air line, possibly place an air stone/brick on the end.
