Messor cephalotes: Re: Messor cephalotes (13. Jan 2010 09:49)

The yellow stuff is food for young birds with eggs ; the seeds are grass seeds.

Can you please also give some information about how to keep them? What kind of nest do they acquire? Temperature and humidity?

KjeldWie: Re: Messor cephalotes (10. Feb 2010 15:42)

Im going on vacation to kenya in a few weeks, in what sort of territory do they live? Maybe i can go look for this species and dig a nest out :D.

JimmyVe: Re: Messor cephalotes (16. Feb 2010 20:46)

I would go for a rather dry territory where you can find some seeds nearby. :)

Zagone: Re: Messor cephalotes (18. Feb 2010 17:30)

The area imidietly around Messor nests tend to be rather desolate, because they pick up seeds befor they start growing, and they tend to spread the dirt they dig up over a larger area, so it's rather easy to spot a nest from afar.

Atleaat that's the general info on Messors, I can't guarantee it applies to Messor cephalotes.

How is the colony doing? I think many people are interested in the development of this species
