The queens of Messor cephalotes (described by Menozzi in 1939) are 18 - 18,7 mm long.

Winged females and males near Naivasha, Kenya, 22th April 2008, after strong rains.

The winged females, the males and the workers were kept time to make somes photos then were released. The queen have been found two days after in her hole on the area of a big nest.
