Well we know why its cos they use courier.. What id like you to ask Jimmy, or for them to do is to add the option of it being sent via letter, and the responsibility being firmly on the buyer not antstore.. so if it arrives damaged its up to the buyer to get a replacement not antstore..

But TBH i dont think that dishes and food n things are about to break in a letter.. Give it a try jimmy :D
Regards :D

Sorry to be a pain Jimmy, but we are not bothered about the shipping cost of live ants and breakables, that is not a problem. We are just asking if small single things can be posted in padded envelopes.Antstore would probably sell a lot more abroad if they used this method.I would definately buy from them a lot more.I would not pay shipping costs for a length of tubing or connecter pipes but i definately would buy if i had to just pay for postage and packing.

Don't be sorry i understand what you all are talking about.
I'm just a Mod, i need to pay it to if i order something :).

(Answer from Antstore)
In the past we have sent small parts by letter dispatch. But lot of customers gave us a feedback that they not received the package. We had no control that they where telling the truth. With letter dispatch they do not need to sing for receiving it. We always did send new packages.
Now, we are willing to send small parts in letter dispatch but only at own risk from the customer.
Also in the forwarding expenses we earn nothing, there are the costs of packing, shipping and personnel.

So i understand the people of Antstore to.
I hope you're questions ore answered.

Dear mzfckr,

the risk is perhaps 2-3 from 100 letters go lost.
the problem is we can not control if the customer has get the letter or not, because we get no signature.
by the parcel we can see the tracking code.

can't you get postal insurance, because with royal mail they have postal insurance which is not that much extra, but covers you up to £500 or something. is there a insurance policy with the postal service in Germany?

yes, we have lot's of extra services, but it's cost more. then you can pay the normal GLS parcel too.

2. for this extra letter service we must go to a post service office and this is 30min. from here.
For one letter with extra service we need 1,5h time.

who will pay for this time? ;)

OK then, but still having the choice at checkout of whether you want it by post or courier would be excellent(with the buyer having the risks and responsability of any lost packages, not antstore), this would definitely improve sales as i know i want new things all the time.

and this would be instead of any other postage costs, and would we have to take the money off oursevles such as on paypal you can have '+/- discount' then take off the amount ourselves. sounds perfect.

Ratgreen, I would highly recomend that you never risk live ants to the british postal system, it is one of the WORST in the world, eg it takes 72 hours for a parcel, via normal mail, to go from Malaysia to Germany, and yet it can take upto 10 days from Germany to the UK, having spent just 12-24hours in germany, it will sit in a UK postal distribution service until one of our lazy postal workers deciedes (s)he's had enough Tea and gets of their butt to organize the letters and send them on.

(apologies for the rant, but i have lost no fewer than 7 queens to the UK postal service, and countless other items, so I simply refuse to believe that our service is reliable enough for anything anymore, its work the extra fiver imo ;)
